James Fee (7 December 1949 — 4 September 2006) was an American photographer known for his images of abandoned factories and lonesome highways. Fee photographed images that he thought represented United States cultural icons in decline, such as crumbling drive-in movie theaters and rusting, abandoned cars. Fee’s approach to photography led museum curators to give his exhibitions such titles as “American Noir” and “The Weight of Time”. His photographs are permanently housed in the San Diego MOPA | Museum of Photographic Arts, the William Benton Museum of ArtMOCA | The Museum of Contemporary Art,  Los Angeles, The George Eastman House, Rochester NY, Biblioteque Nationale, Paris, France and the Getty Museum, just to name a few.

Flamenco Dancer
30 x 30 inch framed
Yoko is an artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. Ms. Kanayama’s photographs are social documents of the kind of sameness and difference we all embody, no matter the background, without arriving at a kind of blind homogeneity. While re-presenting a cross-section of our difference, Ms. Kanayama maintains the Economist’s objectivity and the Artist’s subjectivity, creating images that are neither wholly disconnected nor overtly romanticized. Her work is often photography based which is exhibited internationally. She also loves Vee and Izabela!

No need for irony, endless narratives or agendas, just a straightforward representation of moments in time. The use of a camera in the photographic medium is for me, the simplest approach. Something I have done for years. My fascination of form, texture, light and color brings me real pleasure. Observing and composing within the viewfinder as various objects are transformed. Patterned siding of a building meets the hard raking light of a cloudless sky. Leaves cast soft shadows on gravestone as the sun burns through morning fog. These seemingly insignificant actions form permanent experiences of moments in time. I am connected to what I see and, by extension, to the places where I have been.

When Tyler Bailey was 10 years old his Grandfather gifted him with an old video camera that was discovered in a dumpster in the suburbs of Los Angeles. One man’s trash quickly became Tyler’s treasure and tool for expression. Over the years, his love of story telling with video translated seamlessly into his passion for photography. Tyler furthered his fine art work at Cal Arts and then focused on commercial photography at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. His work was first publicly exhibited in bus shelters in LA which strangely brought his intro to photography full circle. Tyler resides in Los Angeles, California.

Paul Guillemette Art http://pguillemetteart.com

09 #5
found wood and resin
11″ x 16″ x 1″

09_5 Sculptor, ceramicist and painter Paul Guillemette’s arresting new work is a wholly original commentary on the process of transformation.  The wall-hung works begin with pieces of discarded packing wood, pressed thin and marked with the signs of practical use.  Guillemette assembles these pieces in striking patterns, and then seals them with smooth, transparent resin so that they seem to be cast in honey.  The result contains its own narrative: from living tree with an intricate grain of capillaries, to a cheap and useful material, to useless trash, to a rich and eloquent work of art.  Transformation is central to Guillemette’s representational work, too, and the current show includes figures from the artist’s intimate history: a solemn, watchful guardian; a flying, waterborne child; and an all-embracing, Sumo-like embodiment of love. Guillemette has shown throughout the state of Montana, in Seattle and Minneapolis, ending his time in Montana with a show at the Missoula Art Museum. Paul Moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to continue developing opportunities for his art, and to be near the Ocean.

Portfolio review by

Tony Luna Creative

This one and a half hour session begins with an overall review of the artist’s body of work. The reviewed work is then analyzed using a multidimensional critiquing methodology which focuses on creating a narrative for the work. When the artist’s unique narrative is defined, and the pacing of the work in the portfolio is established, then it is possible to build a marketing direction targeted to attract the clients with the highest potential.

Tony Luna Creative is a Creative Consultancy which serves the business interests of creative entrepreneurs. Over the past forty years Mr. Luna has helped well over a thousand artist-entrepreneurs begin, sustain and enhance their careers, and hundreds of companies to grow and prosper. You may find out more about private consultations, attending classes, lectures and weekend workshops by contacting him at tony@tonylunacreative.com. And you may get an overview of his creative career rejuvenation methods as well as be inspired by reading emails sent in to him by participants in his classes and workshops by going to his blog which is published twice monthly, www.tonylunacreative.blogspot.com.
